Attorney General Keith Ellison promises to crack down on wage theft, the common practice of employers unlawfully withholding wages employees rightly earned on the job.  According to a recent Star Tribune article, Minnesota employees lose roughly $12 million annually from employers who fail to compensate workers for their work.  Under Attorney General Ellison’s leadership, the Attorney General’s Office is creating a new division to expand its prosecutorial power and is seeking to add over a half dozen investigators to stamp out these practices.  On May 7, 2019, Nichols Kaster, with the Attorney General’s office, is hosting a CLE for workers’ rights advocates to fight wage theft and unfair employment practices.
