On Tuesday, May 13, 2014, Governor Mark Dayton signed Senate File 2322 into law. The bill provides that, starting August 1, 2014, victims of discrimination will have the right to a jury trial in cases brought in state court. Nichols Kaster, PLLP partners James H. Kaster and Steven Andrew Smith testified in support of the legislation. This is an important victory for employees in Minnesota, who will now have the right to have their peers decide whether they have been victimized by discrimination.
