Cole Birkeland is an attorney at Nichols Kaster and practices in the area of ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) litigation. Cole represents employees in federal class actions to enforce their rights and protect workers’ retirement savings against self-dealing, imprudent investments, and general mismanagement.
Prior to joining Nichols Kaster, Cole worked as a local government attorney and provided legal counsel to various municipalities across the Twin Cities metropolitan area. While in law school, Cole was a research assistant to Professor Robert Stein and also co-authored a report analyzing Minnesota’s EMS laws for the Resilient Communities Project. Cole is passionate about using legal advocacy to improve people’s lives and effectuate justice.
