May is National Foster Care month, and CNN reported in an article, that Sesame Street has introduced a new Muppet named Karli to its program to highlight some of the issues foster children face.
When children are taken from abusive and neglectful situations, they need lawyers they can count on to make their voices heard. Nichols Kaster, PLLP partners Michele Fisher, Paul Lukas, and Matt Morgan help foster children by serving as volunteer attorneys for the Children’s Law Center (“CLC”). CLC is appointed by courts to provide legal representation to children who are either wards of the state or have been removed from their homes because they are in need of protection. It is an organization that represents over 700 children per year with the help of its volunteer attorneys. More information about CLC and the resources it provides can be found here.
