Magic City Update

No Company is Too Big to Play Fair.
|

The discovery phase of litigation ended this summer.  Soon after, we filed motions with the court, asking the court to hold that Magic City’s entertainers legally qualify as employees regardless of Magic City’s independent contractor agreements.  Employees are legally entitled to a wage free and clear of kickbacks.  In this case, we are seeking minimum wage for all hours worked plus recoupment of fines, fees, and employee tip-outs.  The parties have fully briefed the issue, and now we are waiting for the court to decide whether entertainers qualify as employees or whether this question should be decided by a jury.

This process may take some time, so it is important that you keep us updated with new phone numbers, email addresses and mailing addresses. As always, you may contact our case clerk, Monica Smith, by email at msmith@nka.com or call toll free at (877) 344-4628, ext. 251 with any questions you may have. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
